HEY! WE'RE DREW & MOLLIE ADAMS
Small business ownership can sometimes feel like a never-ending list of tasks. From the emails to send, phone calls to make, photos to edit, sales to make… you get the point… This is where the power of systems can really help your business take flight. Systems help you stay organized, create content for your customers, and show up consistently in the market. From Automation, to SOP’s to financial management, it’s time that you implement these systems into your business. Here’s what I mean.
Automated Emails, Posts, etc.
If you are a small business owner, odds are that you are wearing a lot of hats. I know Mollie and I do! As you are aware, there is simply not enough time in the day for you to send every email, post every social media post, or write every blog. This is where automation comes in. Automating everything from your social media posts, to your email campaigns, is essentially extending your work day from 8 (let’s be real… 10+) hours, to 24 hours. For example, I use an email application called FloDesk. I batch work my emails that I need to send, meaning that I write 2-4 in one sitting. Then, I schedule the emails to go out at the best time in the morning every Thursday for the next month. Now, I don’t have to worry about emails for a whole month! I can rest easy, knowing that the automation provided by FloDesk will send those emails out and alert me if there is any issue.
SOP’s / Asana
If I’m being honest, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), sounds like I’m being told to go read a car manual from the glovebox of my car. But If I’m also being honest, implementing SOP’s into our business while we are still small has been one of the best things we could do for the excellence of the product, and the future of the company. SOP’s ensure clarity amongst your company and team. Everyone knows their role to get a task or a project completed. It makes for less frustration, and more excellence in the end product, because people can know exactly what to do. For example, I developed a process at MiiR (Check them out here!) that allowed us to go from 2 new products in development every year, to 15. This was all due to the clarity I was able to put into the process, and the accountability software like Asana helped me keep.
Proper Budget / financial management tool.
If you do not have a small business budget, or yearly budgeting plan in place, this is for you! Automating, or in your case, starting a management system for your small business finances is invaluable for the future of your business. From knowing historical trends, to accurately tracking spend and forecasting revenue for the year ahead. “Automating” or implementing a budgeting system into your business is a must!
